What AML, ID, and compliance checks can I run on payees through Calmony?

Calmony integrates with Credas to allow you to run Anti-Money Laundering, ID verification, Right to Rent/Work, sanctions, and other compliance checks directly from any payee's profile.

Calmony includes a compliance checking service powered by Credas, accessible from any payee's profile. You can use this to run a range of checks, from basic identity verification through to full AML, sanctions screening, and Right to Rent or Right to Work checks.

For information on automated sanctions monitoring, see "How do I monitor my clients for sanctions using Calmony?" For guidance on acting on a specific sanctions match, see "How do I perform an AML check on a payee who may be subject to sanctions in Calmony?"

The AML & ID Check widget

On every payee profile, you will find an AML, R2R & ID Check widget. This widget shows the current check status at a glance and allows you to initiate or open checks. The status indicators you may see are:

  • Not AML Checked — No check has been run yet; a Perform AML Check button is shown
  • Check Submitted, Awaiting Response — A check has been submitted and is pending; an Open Check button is shown
  • Check Passed — The check has been completed and passed
  • Failed — The check has not passed; a Perform AML Check button is shown to allow a new check

A Play button in the top-right of the widget links to a video explaining how the service works and what your clients can expect when they receive a check request.

How to start a check

You can begin a check in two ways:

  • Click Perform AML Check on the AML & ID Check widget on the payee's profile
  • Go to Actions in the top right of the payee's profile and select AML, R2R & ID Check

A configuration screen will appear where you select the check type and the SMS template to send. On the next screen, you can choose which elements to include in the check and edit the SMS message to the payee. Click AML, R2R & ID Check to submit.

Important: ID Verification is a required element on all custom check types.

Available check types

Through Credas, the following checks are available:

  • Address and Date of Birth — Verifies address and date of birth against the UK Electoral Roll and Credit Header
  • Mortality — Checks the UK deceased database, verifying name and address against the registered deceased persons database
  • International PEP — Screens against the Politically Exposed Persons list, including family members, from across the world
  • International and Financial Sanctions — Screens against multiple sanctions and enforcement lists worldwide
  • Proof of Ownership — Confirms the individual is registered as proprietor of a property, whether held in sole or joint ownership, and confirms the title number
  • Credit Status — Confirms whether the individual is a company director and whether there are any current bankruptcy or CCJ entries on their credit file
  • Bank Account Check — Confirms that bank account details are registered against the individual's name, address, and date of birth

For tenants specifically, you must at minimum perform ID checks, Bank Account checks, and International Sanctions checks to comply with financial sanctions regulations.

Monitoring check status

The AML, R2R & ID Checks section in the left-hand navigation of any payee profile shows a log of all ongoing and completed checks. Clicking into an individual check shows its full details, which update regularly with the latest information from Credas. Checks can also be cancelled from this screen using the Cancel option.

The Notes section of the payee profile logs all changes, and once a check is complete, a PDF report is saved under Documents.
