How does sanctions monitoring work in Calmony?
The Sanctions Monitoring list in your Calmony account automatically checks all payees against the UK sanctions register every 24 hours, alerting you immediately if a match is found.
Calmony includes an integrated OFSI (Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation) monitoring service that runs automated checks against all sanctioned individuals and entities. All payees on your Calmony account are checked every 24 hours, so you'll always be notified promptly if a landlord, tenant, or guarantor appears on the sanctions register.
If a match is found, you're notified immediately so you can take appropriate action.
Accessing the Sanctions Monitoring list
To view the current sanctions monitoring status for all your payees:
- Log in to your Calmony account
- In the left-hand navigation, scroll to the Calmony - OFSI section
- Click Sanctions Monitoring
This list shows all payees being monitored, along with their sanctions risk level, person type, AML check status, the date of their last sanctions check, and any additional information.
Understanding match results
The list uses fuzzy matching, which means a payee may appear as a potential match without necessarily being the same person as the sanctioned individual. Match results are categorised as:
- Strong Match - High probability the payee matches a sanctioned individual
- Close Match - Significant similarity; warrants further investigation
- Partial Match - Some similarities; lower probability but should be reviewed
It's your responsibility to review fuzzy match results and decide whether to proceed with an AML check based on the information shown. For guidance on acting on a match, see this article.
Cost
The OFSI sanctions monitoring service is currently charged at 20p per payee per month. For the latest pricing, see Choose your Plan 2025 - Calmony Client Bank Accounts or contact support@calmony.co
