What Documents Are Accepted as Proof of Address for Calmony Verification?
Griffin accept a specific list of documents as proof of address (PoA). All documents must be genuine and unedited, clearly showing the applicant's name and address. Most must be dated within the last 3 months.
When Griffin cannot automatically match or confirm a person's address during the Calmony verification process, they will request a proof of address (PoA) document.
Basic requirements
All proof of address documents must meet the following criteria:
- Dated within the last 3 months (unless otherwise specified in the list below)
- Submitted as either an original, unedited, unchanged PDF or image file, or a photograph of a physical document that shows all four corners with all information clearly visible and nothing hidden or obscured
Accepted documents

| Bank or Building Society Statement | Must be dated within the last 3 months and clearly show name and address. |
| Utility Bill | Must be dated within the last 3 months and clearly show name and address. |
| Benefits or DWP Pension Confirmation | Must be dated within the last 12 months and clearly show name and address. |
| Council Tax Bill | Must be issued on or after 6 April for the current tax year and clearly show the applicant's full name and address. Bills issued before 6 April aren't accepted, even if they cover a period starting after that date. |
| HMRC Letter | Must be dated within the last 3 months and clearly show name and address. |
| Tenancy Agreement | Must clearly show the name and address of the applicant. |
| Council Rent Card | Must clearly show the name and address of the applicant. |
| Firearms or Shotgun Licence | Must be valid and clearly show the name and address of the applicant. |
| Bankruptcy Order | Must clearly show the name and address of the applicant. |
| Mortgage Statement | Must be dated within the last 12 months and clearly show name and address. |
| Inland Revenue Notice of Tax | Must be dated for the current tax year (see Council Tax Bill above) and clearly show name and address. |
| Solicitor Letter | Must be dated within the last 3 months and clearly show name and address of the applicant. Must be on headed paper and include the contact name and details of the solicitor who produced the letter. |
Important note on driving licences
A driving licence can only be used as proof of address if it wasn't already used as proof of identity during the ID&V process. So if a passport was used for the identity check, the driving licence is available for PoA. But if the driving licence was used for the identity check, it can't also be used for PoA - and Griffin cannot retroactively swap the ID document to a passport to free it up.
