How does the agentOS Payment App handle client money and how long do payments take to clear?

Payments made through the agentOS Payment App are processed through standard payment channels (clearing banks) before arriving in your client account. Open banking payments clear almost immediately; card payments can take up to three days to be paid from Barclays to agentOS, after which they clear immediately to your client account.

When payments are taken through the agentOS Payment App — whether via open banking, card payments through Barclays EPDQ, or other payment processors such as GoCardless — the money follows a standard clearing process before arriving in your client account.

Key points about client money handling:

Payment processing, not third-party holding The Payment App uses standard payment processing channels (clearing banks) to process transactions. Money does not generally remain in these accounts for extended periods.

Clearing times:

  • Open banking payments — clear almost immediately
  • Card payments — can take up to 3 days to be paid from Barclays to agentOS, after which they clear immediately to your client account
  • Funds typically move out to your client account the same day they are received by agentOS

Compliance with property mark regulations The Payment App is designed to handle client money in a way that is consistent with Propertymark regulations. The use of clearing banks as processing channels — rather than third-party holding accounts — is an intentional part of this compliance approach.

What this means in practice:

If you are expecting a payment through the Payment App, allow up to 3 business days for card payments to reach your client account. Open banking payments should be visible much sooner. If a payment appears to be delayed beyond this, contact support@agentos.com for assistance.
