How do I set NRL status for a landlord in agentOS?
To mark a landlord as NRL, open their profile in agentOS, navigate to NRL Status in the left-hand menu, and use the Set NRL Status button to confirm the status and start date.
If a landlord resides outside the UK, you will need to record their Non-Resident Landlord (NRL) status in agentOS so that tax deductions are handled correctly. This should be done before processing any payments for that landlord.
To set NRL status on a landlord's profile:
- Search for the landlord in agentOS using the quick search bar and open their record.
- In the left-hand menu of the landlord profile, select NRL Status.
- Click the Set NRL Status button in the top right of the screen.
- A pop-up window will appear. Complete the following fields:
- Apply From — enter the date from which NRL status applies.
- NRL Applies — toggle this to Yes.
- NRL Approval Number — only complete this field if the landlord has been granted an exemption from tax deductions by HMRC. Leave blank if not applicable.
- Click Set NRL Status to save.
Once saved, agentOS will automatically calculate and deduct the appropriate NRL tax from that landlord's payments going forward.
Note: Only enter an NRL Approval Number if HMRC has issued an exemption for that landlord. Adding an approval number indicates to agentOS that tax should not be deducted automatically.
