How do I manually refund or charge NRL tax in agentOS?
To manually refund or charge NRL tax, open the landlord's profile in agentOS, click Actions, and select either Manual NRL Refund or Manual NRL Charge from the Accounting section of the menu.
In most cases, agentOS will calculate and apply NRL tax automatically based on a landlord's NRL status. However, there are situations where a manual adjustment is needed — for example, if a landlord has been granted an exemption and has already had tax deducted, or if NRL tax was not charged automatically and needs to be applied retrospectively.
Manually refunding NRL tax
Use this option when a landlord has had NRL tax deducted but is exempt — for example, where HMRC has issued an approval number after tax was already collected.
To issue a manual NRL refund:
- Search for the landlord in agentOS and open their record.
- Click Actions in the top right of the landlord profile.
- Under the Accounting section of the Actions menu, select Manual NRL Refund.
- In the pop-up window, enter the amount to refund, select the relevant property, and confirm the NRL account to refund from.
- Click Manual NRL Refund to apply.
Manually charging NRL tax
Use this option if NRL tax has not been charged automatically and needs to be applied to a landlord's account.
To apply a manual NRL charge:
- Search for the landlord in agentOS and open their record.
- Click Actions in the top right of the landlord profile.
- Under the Accounting section of the Actions menu, select Manual NRL Charge.
- In the pop-up window, enter the amount to charge, select the relevant property, and confirm the NRL account to charge from.
- Click Manual NRL Charge to apply.
Important: If you apply a manual NRL charge, make sure you also update the landlord's NRL status on their profile so that agentOS charges NRL tax automatically going forward. See the related article: How do I set NRL status for a landlord in agentOS?
