Fraud and Scam Claims - What Should I Do If I Suspect Fraud?

How to handle unauthorised payments, scams, or suspicious funds on your account

In short: If a payment looks unfamiliar, check it against your recent activity first. If you still believe it's fraud or a scam, contact us at support@calmony.co as soon as possible with the details below - the sooner we hear from you, the better the chance of resolving it.

Fraud and scam claims

Economic crime is unfortunately common in today's financial system. We take this seriously and have a number of controls in place with Griffin (our banking partner) to help protect you.

There are three general situations you might encounter:

  1. Unauthorised payments - money has left your account without your knowledge or permission. A fraudster made the payment.
  2. Scams - you made the payment yourself, but were tricked into doing so.
  3. Receiving suspicious funds - you've received funds that are believed to be proceeds of fraud or a scam.

In all three cases, contact us as early as possible - the sooner we know, the more we can do.

1. You believe there have been unauthorised payments on your account

Before contacting us, check whether you recognise the transaction:

  • Date and time - where were you when the payment was made?
  • The beneficiary - is this someone you've paid before, or a recognised business?
  • The amount - does it match a subscription or regular payment?

If you still don't recognise the transaction and believe it's fraud, contact us at support@calmony.co as soon as possible with the payment details and why you believe it's fraud.

2. You believe you've been scammed

Contact us at support@calmony.co at the earliest opportunity with:

  • Your account details
  • Sort code and account number the funds were paid to
  • Payment details - amount, reason, date
  • Why you believe it's a scam
  • A description of what happened
  • Any relevant screenshots or evidence
  • Details of any vulnerabilities that may be relevant

We (Griffin) will raise the claim with the beneficiary bank and may get back in touch for further details.

Caution: We understand this can be a very stressful experience. Please reach out to us, and we'll support you through the process.

3. You've received funds you believe are from fraud or a scam

If you believe you've received fraudulent or scam funds, notify us as soon as possible at support@calmony.co.

Griffin may then apply restrictions to your account while an investigation is carried out, and we'll be in touch to request further details.
