Does agentOS host my domain when I use Branded Emails?

No, agentOS does not host your domain at any point. Your current domain host remains unchanged, and you maintain full control of domain management.

agentOS does not provide domain hosting services. When you set up Branded Emails, your domain remains with your current hosting provider throughout the entire process.

What stays the same:

Domain hosting: Your domain continues to be hosted by your chosen provider (such as Fasthosts, GoDaddy, 1&1, or any other registrar).

Domain management: Day-to-day management of your domain remains in the hands of your IT administrator or yourself. You maintain complete control over:

  • Domain registration and renewal
  • DNS settings and configuration
  • Website hosting
  • Other domain-related services

What changes are required:

Whilst agentOS doesn't host your domain, technical changes to your domain's DNS records are necessary for Branded Emails to function:

Send & Receive option:

  • MX Record update (routes incoming emails to agentOS)
  • TXT Record addition (verifies Amazon SES as an authorised sender)

Send Only option:

  • TXT Record addition only

These DNS record changes are made within your existing domain host's control panel by your IT team or domain administrator.

Maintaining email functionality:

It is crucial that the DNS record changes remain in place after setup. Removing or modifying these records will disrupt email deliverability through agentOS.

If you need to make changes to your domain settings for any reason, contact support@agentos.com first to ensure email functionality isn't affected.

Using a separate domain:

If you already have a domain set up for business use (such as for your company website or existing email system), you may be better off using a different domain for use with agentOS. This prevents any conflicts with your existing infrastructure and gives you more flexibility.
