Key principles to use when describing your user prompt for building an AI User

  1. Use speech-to-text when drafting prompts
    Talk through your logic out loud rather than typing from scratch. Natural language helps AI models understand your intent more accurately than overly formal or technical phrasing.  Tip: Download and use Wispr Flow. 
  2. Control the questioning flow
    Always include: "Ask me one question at a time." Without this, the AI may fire off multiple questions in a single response, which quickly becomes overwhelming and harder to answer properly.
  3. Build in verification checkpoints
    Instruct your AI to confirm before acting when confidence is low. For example: "If you are only 80% sure, ask me a clarifying question before continuing." This prevents costly mistakes and keeps you in control of critical decisions.

Building a High Performer 'Employed AI User'

  1. Goal: Tell the AI exactly what you want. The clearer your outcome, the better the output. 
  2. Return Format/Work to be Done: Define the structure you want back, whether its a list, table, outline, questions to ask or completed work. 
  1. Warning: Set rules for accuracy and tone. E.g if only 90% sure, ask me a question. 
  1. Context Dump: Feed you AI your background, goals or audience.  The more context you give, the more if feels lise a real person, not a random chatbot.
